Cheltenham Town Hall was built in 1902 to provide a venue for the many balls and concerts featured in the town's packed social calendar. It performs a similar function today, hosting the Summer Ballroom Dancing Festival, Balls, Tea Dances, Lectures, Concerts, Exhibitions, Conferences and the like as well as providing an important base for many of the Cheltenham Festivals. Pittville Park

Opened in 1825, Pittville Park is the largest ornamental park in Cheltenham and features the magnificent Pittville Pump Room and lakes. This park has a grade 2 listing under the English Heritage register of historic parks and gardens, with the Pump Room as a grade 1 historic building. Within the park there are a wide range of sporting and leisure opportunities.

Facilities include angling, golf and a skateboarding area. All these facilities are situated to the west of Evesham Road.

Pittville Pump Room

Pittville Pump Room is a beautiful, historic Grade One listed property set in parkland at Pittville Park, Cheltenham and is a grand venue for cultural, commercial and community events. The foundation stone of the Pittville Pump Room was laid on May 4th 1825, more than 100 years after the famous waters were first discovered and work completed in 1830. A feature of the design is the columns facing the lawns which are based on those of a Greek temple. The decoration is based on the Ionic order and the great hall reflects the genius of John Forbes, its architect, with the spa opening on the north side and the gallery and dome surmounting the hall.

After its heyday the Pump Room suffered a period of decline but was refurbished and re-opened in 1960. Decoration has been modified to reflect modern tastes yet its classical architectural features are showcased and Spa waters are still available, being pumped to the fountain in the main hall from an 80' deep well.

Pittville Pump Room hosts some of Cheltenham's premier annual events, the PBFA Book Fair for antiquarian and second-hand books, the Cheltenham Horticultural Society Summer Flower Show and Craft Fair, Dances, Concerts, Exhibitions etc.

Holst Birthplace Museum

The world famous composer, Gustav Holst, was born at 4 Clarence Road, Cheltenham, the Holst Birthplace Museum, on 21 September 1874. Although chiefly remembered today as the composer of 'The Planets', he was a prolific composer who wrote in practically every classical genre from solo-song and chamber pieces to massively scored orchestral works and opera. His compositions are intensely original and individual; he was inspired by sources as diverse as Sanskrit and English folk-song and he had an innate understanding of the descriptive qualities of orchestral instruments and the human voice.

4 Clarence Road is a fine, Regency Terrace house. Its exhibits tell Holst's life story and include a display of personal belongings including his piano. It also gives an 'upstairs - downstairs' depiction of life in times past, including a Victorian kitchen and a charming Edwardian nursery.

Sudeley Castle

Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Cotswold Hills, Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe is steeped in history. With royal connections spanning a thousand years, it has played an important role in the turbulent and changing times of England's past.

The Morgan Motor Company was formed in 1912 with the Reverend H.G. Morgan as Chairman and his son as Managing Director.

Cheltenham Racecourse

Cheltenham Racecourse, at Prestbury Park just 1.5 miles from conveniently situated Cheltenham hotel, Cotswold Grange, is the home of Jump Racing. The March Gold Cup Festival is the world’s most prestigious horse racing meeting over fences. The roar of the crowd as the tapes rise for the first race on Tuesday in March each year tells you The Festival is here again! On Friday is the highlight of the entire Jump season: the Cheltenham Gold Cup. This is the race that every owner trainer and jockey dreams of winning.

Over the course of the week around 230,000 people will witness the unique experience that is The Festival at Cheltenham and across the nation, well over £500 million will be wagered on the outcome of the 25 races.

The first organised Flat race meeting in Cheltenham took place in 1815 on Nottingham Hill, with the first races on Cleeve Hill in August 1818. Racing's popularity soared over the next decade with crowds of 30,000 visiting the Racecourse for its annual two day July meeting featuring the Gold Cup, a 3m flat race.

In 1829, Cheltenham's Parish Priest, Reverend Francis Close, preached the evils of horseracing and aroused such strong feeling amongst his congregation that the race meeting in 1830 was disrupted. Before the following year's meeting the grandstand was burnt to the ground so to overcome this violent opposition the racecourse was moved to Prestbury Park.

During the racing season from October to May, in addition to Festival Week there is racing every month; additionally there is a huge variety of non-racing events that span the year.
